Online Casino
Information & History
Ten years ago, the
Internet was just a bunch of text, mainly messages
from one computer savvy person to another. Now, we
play online roulette at virtual casinos, with
graphics so impressive that you would think you
were actually standing at the roulette table at
Las Vegas. How did online casinos come so far, so
fast? How did a million dollar industry become a
multi-billion dollar industry?
The first online casinos came online just about
the time that Internet heavyweights such as AOL
and Amazon.com started to become popular. The
innovators of the online casinos thought: there
must be a way to leverage Internet technology so
that we can provide a low-cost solution that
allows people to gamble from the comfort of their
own homes.
In 1941 the El Rancho
Vegas was the only resort on the Las Vegas Strip.
In 1957 the first topless showgirls debuted on the
Strip at The Dunes. In 1993 The Dunes just
disappeared from the skyline in a fiery, dusty
staged implosion. Bugsy Siegel called those kinds
of places "carpet joints," modeled after more
comfortable resort hotels in Miami.
The founding of Las Vegas on May 15, 1905 was
because of the new railroad. Parcels of land went
up for sale. The Union Pacific auctioned off 1,200
lots in a single day in an area which today is
casino-lined Glitter Gulch.
Graphics will continue
to improve, and I think we will continue to see a
move towards multi-player gaming. Expect to see
even more competition, and expect the bonuses to
continue to grow, to your benefit. The future
looks bright for online roulette, and online
casinos. |
